Formation of CdSe nanoparticles from in-situ formed crystalline Cd particles and two different Se-precursors.

CdSe nanoparticles with narrow size distributions have been synthesized by a new method based on a new precursor system for Cd monomers, containing both a precipitate of metallic Cd particles and Cd²⁺ in the solution, and two different Se precursor systems: TOPSe and Se/ODE. The quality of the nanoparticles was controlled by UV-vis absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy, as well as TEM.
