Calcium carbonate microparticles formulation using CO2 in supercritical conditions. Encapsulation of model proteins.

France / Франция

In this work we propose a new method to formulate calcium carbonate composite microspheres by using a water-in-carbon dioxide emulsion (W/C) whose droplets act as micro- or nanoreactors in which the concentration of substances can be carefully controlled. These microspheres have been used to encapulate model proteins like bovine serum albumin (BSA), lysozyme and insulin. The present method of encapsulation makes it possible to avoid the use of toxic organic solvent or high temperature processes.
